New Mexico is one of the few states in the United States that charge its own highway tax called New Mexico WDT Tax. Vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds and more and traveling through New Mexico are subject to paying these taxes. Every year, every trucking company must register and apply for New Mexico WDT Permit for each unit.
