Carriers who transport property, operate large commercial vehicles, transport hazardous materials, or operate vehicles requiring a commercial driver’s license need an MCP Motor Carrier Permit as evidence they have registered their California Carrier Identification number (CA Number) with DMV Department of Motor Vehicle. This proves that the motor carrier has registered its carrier identification number with the Department of Motor Vehicles and has met all the requirements to operate commercially.
